Pyramid8 Recruitment are delighted to be working with a very well established and reputable Private Care Company who provide high quality accommodation and personal care for individuals who have a learning disability with additional complex needs.
Our client is looking to recruit enthusiastic Support Workers to join their team based in the South Milford area to provide a pivotal role in providing support and guidance to the residents.
The role of a Support Worker will include a shift rota basis, with potential of overnights at the facility. The working hours are 37 hours - 40 hours per week. You will be provided with support in terms of team leaders and managers and the support they offer is 1-2-1 or 1-2 support. You will receive training, this training will be ongoing as well as career development and opportunities.
You must have a current driving licence for this role as this role will require travel and you must be able to commute to the facility.
•Ensure that high standards of professional care and practices for service users are established and maintained, including appropriate attention to their physical, cultural, social, educational, recreational and emotional needs.
•To participate in the decision-making process concerning future plans for each service user within their home environment.
•To prepare reports and to participate in case reviews on each service user.
•To ensure that service user’s medication is administered as prescribed by the General Practitioner.
•To undertake ‘Keyworker’ responsibilities.
•To promote and contribute towards effective communication within the residential staff team and between service user and staff, to ensure that continuity of care is maintained.
•To contribute towards the maintenance of sound administrative practices within the home; to establish and maintain a detailed case recording system for each resident.
•To undertake sleeping-in duties.
•To participate in and contribute to staff training and development programmes as and when required.
•To assist as necessary in the overall running of the home and to provide assistance where necessary.
•To deploy volunteers effectively and supervise students and trainees as appropriate
•To assist in fostering, developing and maintaining contacts within the local community.
•To carry out any other duties as required.
•Experience with working as a Support Worker or Care Worker – preferably with Learning Disabilities
•Excellent Communication skills both written and verbal
•A commitment to people with learning disabilities and who have challenging learning behaviours
•Basic Knowledge of first aid
•Knowledge of health and safety practices and a good understanding of Equal Opportunity Policies
•Domestic Skills such as Health Eating, cooking, finances
