My client is opening a brand-new venue in Pontefract which has a capacity for around 300 people.  The venue has had huge financial investment to create an upmarket cocktail bar, restaurant and café bar which will offer music nights, these include live pianist and live jazz nights. The vision is for this to be the destination of choice locally and the owner is looking for an experienced bar and restaurant manager who will share in this vision and add their own creative ideas to deliver a first-class experience to customers.  This role offers autonomy for an enthusiastic and driven individual to oversee the operations that lead to the ongoing success of the bar and restaurant. The salary is up to £35K plus bonus with 32 days holiday.

Responsibilities include

  • Leading a team to deliver to a first-class customer experience
  • Recruit, train, manage and motivate staff
  • Ensuring that the front-of-house is fully staffed, particularly during peak times
  • Meeting sales and profitability targets
  • Creating a welcoming environment for customers
  • Ensuring consistent, high-quality beverages and cocktails are served to customers
  • Creating a positive work environment for staff and encouraging their career development
  • Monitoring inventory of beverages to ensure adequate stock
  • Overseeing the cleanliness of staff and the physical bar area and paying attention to possible health hazards and regulation violations
  • Analyse and plan sales levels and profitability
  • Organise marketing activities, such as promotional events and discount schemes
  • Coordinate the operation of the restaurant ensuring that kitchen, bar and waiting staff are working as a team
  • Respond to customer queries and complaints
  • Meet and greet customers, organise table reservations and offer advice about menu and wine choices
  • Maintain high standards of quality control, hygiene, and health and safety
  • Check stock levels, order supplies and prepare cash drawers and petty cash
