Wakefield, £26,000 - £28,000 PermanentOur client is looking for a highly organised Distribution & Shipping Assistant to join their busy Supply Chain team in Wakefield. The Role
You will play a key part in ensuring customer orders are delivered on time and shipments are coordinated efficiently. Working closely with internal teams and overseas partners, you’ll help maintain high service levels while supporting smooth day-to-day logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities
Distribution & Customer Deliveries
- Schedule and coordinate customer deliveries
- Create and manage Goods Received Notes and resolve queries
- Process and invoice customer dispatches
- Raise proforma invoices and liaise with trade customers
- Reconcile credit notes and maintain accurate records
- Maintain digital and physical filing systems
- Support stock control and year-end stock takes
- Process sample requests and update stock systems
Shipping & Logistics Coordination
- Liaise with overseas offices, agents, and factories to meet shipment deadlines
- Monitor purchase order timelines and manage any delays or changes
- Ensure all shipping documentation is accurate and completed on time
- Coordinate container loadings and optimise shipment efficiency
- Prepare shipping invoices and manage FOB documentation
- Maintain and update shipment records and internal systems
Supplier & Freight Payments
- Maintain supplier payment records
- Check and prepare payments to suppliers and freight forwarders
About You
- Strong Excel skills with good knowledge of Word and Outlook
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Confident communicator, able to liaise with internal teams and international partners
- Able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Previous experience in logistics, shipping, or administration is desirable
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above)
